A recall has been issued for Uncle Ben’s Infused Rice products after several people “experienced allergic-like symptoms of mild flushing and rash” after consuming the product, says CNN.
Mars Foodservices, which manufactures and distributes products under the Uncle Ben’s brand name, reports that all reports of illness came from three different schools in Houston, and that all of those afflicted had consumed the product in Mexican Flavor. The recall applies only to Infused Rice products sold in bulk through wholesale distributors, and not to Uncle Ben’s products sold in supermarkets.
The FDA is working with the company to investigate the source of the problem.
