The History and Mission of The Orange County Trial Lawyers Association (OCTLA)

Formed in 1963, The Orange County Trial Lawyers Association (OCTLA) began as a group of California plaintiffs’ attorneys looking to share information, experience, and strategies to overcome challenges and succeed on behalf of their clients.

A plaintiff’s attorney is the lawyer who represents the plaintiff — the party bringing the lawsuit. In personal injury cases, that means the little guy, small business, or average consumer who has a case against a negligent actor or large company.

Today, the OCTLA is described as Orange County’s premier advocate for the protection of individuals and their access to civil justice.

What Are the Qualifications for the OCTLA Hall of Fame?

The OCTLA Hall of Fame is a select list of attorneys recognized for a lifetime legacy of advocacy and service in Orange County. Working in cities like Irvine, Newport Beach, and Anaheim, these individual lawyers stand out for their extraordinary accomplishments, their high integrity, and their distinguished dedication.

Inductees to the OCTLA’s Hall of Fame are trial attorneys chosen for both their impact on the legal profession and their contribution to the community of Orange County. A trial attorney is one whose work involves bringing cases to court and arguing before a judge or a jury. It is work that requires a tremendous amount of skill and tenacity, and is often vital in securing justice for individuals under the law.

OCTLA is proud to recognize 2022’s group of honorees for their positive influence on the Orange County trial lawyer community.

An Orange County attorney can help you recover for injuries and losses due to medical malpractice, an auto accident, or a wrongful death. You only have one chance to bring a lawsuit — be sure the lawyer you choose has the proven experience you need. Contact Hodes Milman today at (949) 640-8222

Not only have they provided incredible results in a very difficult field, they have helped forge the next wave of trial lawyers in Orange County. Jeff and Dan have been an integral part of the plaintiff’s bar and have always lent a helping hand to any attorney who asks for it.
      –     Ben Ikuta, Esq., Ikuta Hemesath,

Dan and Jeff have been guiding forces in my development for almost 15 years. Dan helped open my eyes to the law and all the good that can be done through it when he represented me in my own case. I am forever indebted to them for their support and guidance.
      –     Robbie Munoz, Esq., The Simon Law Group

In my 30+ years of litigation with Dan and Jeff we have always been on opposite sides of the cases. Yet, due to their unwavering integrity and professionalism, I have always felt I was litigating those cases “with” them, not “against” them, in pursuit of a fair and just result. A lofty purpose toward which we should all strive.
