Jeff Milman was featured in the Los Angeles Daily Journal, Orange County Register and Daily Pilot commenting on the recent product liability lawsuit against Xoft, Inc., a radiation therapy product company, and Hoag Memorial Hospital. The Xoft Axxent Flexishield Mini is a shielding accessory that is intended to allow patients to avoid traditional post-lumpectomy radiation treatments, however has been found to shed tungsten, a heavy metal compound. The case, filed in Orange County Superior Court, involves a group of women whose breasts were lobulated with tungsten following breast cancer treatment, and now faces a mastectomy. Xoft recalled the shielding accessory on February 4, 2011 in response to several reports of tungsten shedding.
