Food Safety News reports that Arkansas-based Tyson Foods Inc. has recalled more than 75,000 pounds of its chicken nuggets due to “foreign matter contamination” after some of the nuggets were found to contain small pieces of plastic.

The recall affects 5-lb. bags of “Tyson Fully Cooked White Meat Chicken Nuggets,” which were shipped to Sam’s Club locations nationwide, and 20-lb. bags of “Spare Time Fully Cooked Nugget-Shaped Chicken Breast Pattie Fritters w/Rib Meat,” which were shipped to Indiana for institutional use, as well as to a Tyson company store in Arkansas. All affected products bear the establishment number “P-13556” on their packaging.

The plastic bits were traced to a broken scraper inside of a blending machine. So far, the contaminated nuggets have been linked to several reports of minor oral injury. Anyone with a bag of chicken nuggets affected by the recall is encouraged to discard the chicken, remove the UPC and date code from the bag, and send it to Tyson Foods – CP631, P.O. Box 2020, Springdale, AR, 72765-9989 for a full refund.
