The U.S. Public Interest Research Group recently released its annual “Trouble in Toyland” report. Just as many people start shopping for holiday gifts, the report blacklists toys that pose choking, strangulation or laceration hazards or contain dangerous quantities of toxic chemicals like phthalates and lead.

So, is there trouble in your child’s own personal Toyland? Quite possibly, US PIRG reports: The Consumer Product Safety Commission recalled 5.8 million toys in the past year for presenting a choking risk, and over half a million for containing more than the legal amount of lead.

If, as the report asserts, “our lives have become a giant, uncontrolled experiment on the relationship between toxic chemicals and our health,” then children are the subjects most at risk. Not only are kids still developing, but they’re also more likely to touch and put in their mouth toys and other objects that may contain dangerous chemicals.

If you believe your child has been harmed by a chemical-containing object, contact our personal injury attorneys at Hodes Milman toll-free at (949) 640-8222 or submit the contact form via our website, www.hodesmilman.com.
