Britax Child Safety, Inc., an infant car seat maker, has recalled about 23,000 of its Chaperone-model car seats made between April 2009 and May 2010, The New York Times reports.

The company determined that the clip which fastens the Chaperone seat’s harness across its child passenger can break, posing a choking risk and potentially cutting the infant.  Britax blamed shoddy work by a supplier.
