Luxury car manufacturer Rolls Royce has an issued a recall for 27 of its 2013 Phantom vehicles due to the possibility that some may be missing an anti-misfueling device, thereby increasing the risk of a static electricity-induced fire.
The Phantom, which costs between $399,000 and $470,000, has a device in its fuel filler neck that discharges static electricity during the fueling process. Vehicles without the device could be in danger of catching fire at the gas pump.
Twenty-seven 2013 Phantoms manufactured between November 2, 2012 and January 18, 2013 are included in the recall. Rolls Royce is contacting all affected owners, who are urged to bring their cars to the dealership for inspection and, if necessary, replacement of the fuel filler necks.
