Target has recalled some 300,000 blenders after the retailer and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) received reports of the appliance separating into its component parts while in operation—thus exposing its spinning blades and potentially badly cutting users.

The CPSC has received 11 reports of the blenders’ plastic pitcher coming apart from its blade assembly. Seven of those incidents resulted in users suffering severe lacerations to their hands and fingers.

The agency is counseling consumers who own the blenders to stop using them and return them to any Target store for a full refund. The appliances at issue are Chefmate 6-Speed, model BL-10 blenders, and were sold exclusively at Target stores from September 2007 to February 2011.
