A Florida woman was seeing a doctor for chronic neck pain resulting from a car accident. His “treatment” involved injecting steroids directly into her spinal cord. The resulting fluid-filled cavity in the spinal cord led to a crippled arm, a limp, and weakness in her legs. Soon she will no longer be able to walk at all.
The woman was awarded $37 million for her spinal cord injury, and the doctor is currently in federal prison for illegal distribution of oxycodone.
This particular doctor’s medical license was revoked, but the question is, how many other doctors like him are out there, practicing medicine when they should never have been licensed in the first place?
