A woman has filed a personal injury lawsuit against OUE Skyscape LLC after sustaining face and neck injuries while riding the Skyslide at the U.S. Bank Tower in downtown Los Angeles over the July 4th weekend. “Once I was getting to the bottom, I just remember my head in the mat and I was getting up and I noticed I had a cut on my face,” Victim Tiffany Arnold said of her experience. “It was like a bump, and then head first.” After Skyslide managers and operators refused to help pay for her medical bills, she filed a lawsuit, stating that she wanted the attraction closed. The attraction opened this past June as part of “Skyspace LA” at the U.S. Bank Tower. The 46 foot long slide is 4 feet wide, and made of 1 ¼ inch thick glass, offering a unique view of the Los Angeles city skyline.  It is perched on the side of a skyscraper, 1,000 feet above the ground. Another personal injury lawsuit against the attraction claims that a woman broke her ankle near the end of the slide, because her foot got stuck in a gap between the slides landing pads. She accused the company of neglecting to fix a design defect in which the slide did not allow riders to slow down enough at the end, creating greater risk of injury due to momentum, because of the gap between the safety mats and the slide. The Skyslide was part of a $50 million renovation project that included an observation deck, a bar, and a restaurant with 360 degree views of the city. Admission to the observation deck is $25, with an additional $8 if you want to ride the slide. “The Skyslide boasts a safe, thrilling experience unlike any other in the world,” Lucy Rumantir, head of U.S. operations for the building owner stated earlier this year. She has yet to release a statement concerning the recent lawsuits, although a public relations representative for the company has acknowledged the lawsuits, and stated that they will be reviewed by a legal team.
