CNN reports that 22,000 pounds of refrigerated ready-to-eat food items containing chicken, ham and beef have been recalled due to possible contamination with the illness-causing bacterium Listeria.

The recalled products were distributed in more than two dozen states in the U.S., as well as Canada. Consumers are advised to look for the establishment number EST. 13520 or P-13520 inside the USDA mark of inspection and a use-by date followed by a plant identifier code of 2. Products affected by the recall should be discarded or returned to the store for a refund.

Listeria can lead to serious infection, particularly in pregnant women, young children, the elderly and those with compromised immune systems. Symptoms may include fever, muscle aches, diarrhea and headaches; the infection can be treated with antibiotics. So far, no illnesses have been reported in connection with the recall.
