Jeff Milman was quoted in the New York Times and Law 360 commenting on the April recall announcement made by the FDA stemming from the defects in a radiation therapy shield manufactured by Xoft, Inc. The Xoft Axxent Flexishield Mini is a shielding accessory that is intended to allow patients to avoid traditional post-lumpectomy radiation treatments, however has been found to shed tungsten, a heavy metal compound. At least 27 women with breast cancer – who opted to get a lumpectomy rather than a mastectomy – were treated with the Axxent Flexishield at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in Newport Beach, California. Mr. Milman represents eight of the California women and has filed suit against the manufacturer.
